Contribution of Archaeological Survey of India to Archaeological Storage
Indian Archaeological Survey (ASI) was established in
E.1861. It played an important role in the discovery and collection of
antiquities. Through the Archeological Survey, the remains of Indus
Civilization could be brought to light for the first time. Statues, metal
sculptures, earthen pots, mudbhands, gardens, baths, food grains, muds etc.
were obtained from Kalibanga and Pilibanga in Rajasthan, from which information
about the social, religious, economic, political and business life of the Indus
Civilization is obtained. And it is estimated that Kalibanga was the capital of
the eastern part of the Indus civilization. This material was kept in various
museums of the country, which has been doing research work by scientists,
linguists, historians and researchers. A museum near the site of Kalibanga dig
has been established.
Similarly, Nagari, Khor, Beawar, Kheda, Big, Nachar, Mudra
Deori, Hiraji Ka Kheda, Balu Kheda (on the banks of the Ganghari river in
Chittor district), Bhansarodgarh, Nagghat (on the banks of Chambal and Bamni)
Hamirgarh, Saroghanganj, Beograd , Shimla, Khurias, Devli, Mangorop, Duriya,
Gogakhera, Pur, Patla, Sand, Kunwaria, Gilund (on the banks of Banas in
Bhilwara district), Luni (on the banks of Luni in Jodhpur district), Singari
and Pali (Dolls and Bandi River valley), samad Dakshi, Shishpura, Bhaval,
Pichak, Bhandal, Dhanvasani, Soojat, Dhanari, Garnaanda, Dhandhra, Golio,
Pipar, Kawansar, Umdadnagar (in Marwar), Gagaron (Jhalwar), Govindgarh (on the
banks of Sagmati in Ajmer district), Kokani, Palaeolithic stone stones have
been obtained from places such as Bhavana, Hero, Jagannathpura, Sialpura,
Pachar, Tarawat, Gogasala, Bharni (in the Tonk district on the banks of Parwan
river) in Kota district, Not have been kept in museums.
In the Chittorgarh district on the banks of riverbed and
gulf, on the banks of Chambal and Vani river, Bhimsargarh and Navaghat, on the
banks of Banas, Hamirgarh, Shippur, Devli and Gilund, on the banks of the river
Luni, Pali, Samadri, on the banks of Banas river In Bhane, Bagh in Udaipur and
Tilwara in Marwar etc. have got the tools of North Palajan from many places.
Copper-stone carpets, Tamarind and Bronze-based civilizations have come to
light in Ganeshwar (Sikar), Ahad (Udaipur), Gilon (Rajsamand), Bagor (Bhilwara)
and Kalibanga (Hanumangarh). In ancient eras, the ancient places of
Pindapadalia (Chittor), Ballathal and Jharkol (Udaipur), Kurada (Nagaur),
Sabaniya and Pugal (Bikaner), Nandlalpura, Kiradot and Chitwadi (Jaipur), Elana
(Jalore), old Pushkar (Ajmer), Coal- Stores of copper equipment have been found
in Maholi (Sawimadhhopur) and Malah (Bharatpur). Noah (Bharatpur), Equipment of
Iron Age civilizations has been received from Jodhpura (Jaipur) and Goldari
(Jhunjhunun). Remnants of Shunangal civilizations have been obtained from
Rangmahal, Baropal, Munda, Dobri Pilibanga, Ahar, Nagari, etc. All this
material has been kept in various museums.
Rajasthan Archeology and Museum Department
In the year 1950, the Department of Archeology and Museum
was established. This department searches, surveys and collects all the
scattered treasures and cultural heritage in the state and also disseminates
this material in the public. In this department various officers are working as
Director, Deputy Director, Regional Superintendent, Superintendent of Research
and Excavation, Superintendent Architectural Survey, Superintendent Arts
Survey, Superintendent Aamer Mahal, Superintendent Central Museum Jaipur, Chief
Puraskar Vetta, Currency Specialist etc. In the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, the
registration officer registers the state owned privately owned material and art
collections. The department has declared 222 monuments and archaeological
sites. The department also revives them. Ancient fortifications, monuments,
temples, palaces, havelis, frescoes, The same department also acquires coins
and other art and materials. The excavation branch of the department excavates
the archaeological sites. The currency branch deals with the protection of
coins, chemical treatment and cataloging. This department also does the work of
restructuring and development of museums. The Archeology and Museum Department
also organizes painting exhibitions, exhibition and publications. The
department also publishes a journal called 'The Research'.
